Week of March 2 - 6

st Grade - This week the students played with Mega Blocks in music.  Each block is labeled with a note.  They were able to assemble the blocks in order after I clapped a rhythm to them.  We also listened to and danced to Brahms' Hungarian Dance #5.  In this music we experienced many of the same musical elements that we did with the Presidents song, such as high and low, fast and slow, loud and quiet.

nd Grade - We previewed the photos I took of the children in their "Swamped" costumes.  We also started a very fun online adventure called The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.  We will be spending the next couple of weeks exploring the different instruments of the orchestra..

rd Grade - We had an hour of music in the computer lab this week.  The children used Garage Band to add music and sound effects to their prerecorded speeches.  A virtual zoo is coming soon!

th Grade - We are continuing with Orff lessons.  Their vocabulary is expanding, as is their ability to play creatively and beautifully!

th Grade - I taught dance number 3 this week to a song that has lyrics in French, and we started learning a song with lyrics in Polish!
