Week of November 14 - 18

Kindergarten - We sang "thankful" songs this week, as well as a funny spin-off of I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.

2nd - We had some fun with a Thanksgiving Day Rap and a song about mashed potatoes. We also enjoyed a silly version of She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain. In addition, each student had the opportunity to play in a Native American drum circle while listening to a Navajo song.

3rd - We had fun singing and dancing to the Turkey Tango! On a more serious note, we sang a beautiful song called Pilgrims. It is full of history and facts about the origin of this special American holiday.

4th - This week we combined our voices and recorders with a Native American drum in a song called Dream Catcher. I will be taping each class after break and posting their performances. We also took a look at Hot Cross Buns and Buns Cross Hot. Your children are doing a great job! They are learning the meaning of sight-reading and appreciating the importance of taking a disciplined approach to reading and playing music!

1st and 5th - We had our first combined rehearsal this week! 151 students! It was a little crazy, but so joyful to hear and see! Please check the Pirate Christmas tab at the top of this blog for specific information about show times and costumes.

Happy Thanksgiving!
