World Music Drumming

I hope you're all having a wonderful summer!  I'm spending this week in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin at a World Music Drumming class.  This year I've made it to level 2.  It's really challenging and very fun!  I have played and purchased several instruments that were made by hand by one of our instructors from Ghana.  There are other teachers here who are teaching us dances, playing techniques and other kinds of melodies and rhythms from other lands.  The man who heads it all is Dr. Will Schmid.  He is one of the finest people I've ever met and it is an honor to learn from him again this summer.  In my world of music education, this man is one of the best and has brought music and instruments from other cultures into our American music rooms.
