The district-owned set of World Instruments is in the Ivy Hill music room for the next 3 weeks!
Kindergarten - I am teaching only the PM kindergarten students this year. I enjoyed meeting them on Monday! We sang, did a little dancing, played beats, echoed and started learning each others names.
1st Grade - We are learning the Ivy Hill School song and playing the World Drums.
2nd Grade - We are playing rhythms on the World Drums and learning the difference between the beat and the rhythm of the words.
3rd Grade - We are combining 4 different rhythm patterns and creating the music of an African ensemble.
4th Grade - "Compose Yourself" is underway! This week we listened to a recording of the show and started rehearsing a couple of songs. Auditions for speaking parts, singing solos and a piano solo are coming soon. Students can access the script and lyrics on Edmodo.
5th Grade - We are playing some challenging rhythms on the World Drums! The students played a rhythm pyramid in a 3 part canon. We also played a 5 part African ensemble. Next week - Latin music!
