nd Grade - The students are impressing me by turning rhythms into melodies using solfege. We are using the rhythm Mega Blocks and adding pitches. We continued to sing Yankk Doodle and added a funny partner song to it called "Macaroni Pony".
rd Grade - In honor of Veterans Day, we sang a beautiful song called "We Are Proud of Our Veterans." We also sang through the songs of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
th Grade - This week we took the time to understand the who, what, where, when and how of our country's National Anthem. We discussed the War of 1812, Frances Scott Key, Fort McHenry and other important details behind the reason those words were written that we sing today. The students will be tested next week on the lyrics to verse 1 of our Star Spangled Banner.
th Grade - We are wrapping up a difficult, yet rewarding unit on composing music. The students started this project by creating 4 measures of rhythm. They notated the rhythm and then turned it into a melody by writing the rhythm on a staff. The final part of this unit is for each student to perform their music on an instrument.
Happy Veteran's Day!
