Week of May 2 - 6

Kindergarten - This week we had an extra music class and practiced on the stage!

1st Grade - We are getting ready for next year by using 2nd grade music books.

2nd Grade - In addition to enjoying a few Schoolhouse Rock videos (Conjunction Junction, what's your function?), we are learning to read more difficult music. e are using words like fine, repeat signs, verse, refrain, 1st ending and 2nd ending.

3rd Grade - After a very successful performance of "The Granny Awards", we are closing out the 3rd grade year with a unit on Beethoven.

4th Grade - This week we started watching "West Side Story". These students have seen a ballet and an opera. Now we are watching a musical. Besides enjoying the incredible music by Leonard Bernstein, the choreography of Jerome Robbins and the infamous script by Arthur Laurents (who passed away yesterday at the age of 93), we are noting the many jobs it takes to put together a show like this.

5th Grade - Two more dances are learned! Lots of laughter and sweat this week! I hope that many of you are able to meet with me after school next week. Please check the 5th Grade Show tab at the top of this blog for show updates.

Happy Mother's Day to all the very special Ivy Hill moms!
