Week of October 15-19

Kindergarten - This week we started learning about high and low notes and played with a xylophone.  We are also singing and dancing with fall and Halloween songs.

1st Grade - I asked each child to tell me their top three choices for the part they would like to have in our December show.  They also told me if they'd like to audition for a speaking part or not.  I will be sending home practice sheets for auditions as well as information about which day your child can try out.  All auditions and practices will be in the music room during the first half of their lunch recess.

2nd - We had a busy week!  We read rhythms and then danced to them, we learned about rounds using a pumpkin poem and we learned six Italian terms for volume and applied them in a fun scarecow song.

3rd - We learned an old African American spiritual this week that is both historical and fun to sing!  It changes speeds and names a lot of bones.  We are continuing to work on our song and dance for "The Song of Life!"

4th Grade - We are just about ready to put on a show for you!  I know you will be proud of your child, as I am!

5th Grade - We are singing, dancing and studying vocal ranges through several YouTube videos.  The students are seeing and hearing incredible voices such as Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli, The Three Tenors, Sesame Street and even Tony the Tiger!  Do you recognize the voice of Thurl Ravenscroft?  He was also the voice of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!"
