Week of October 9-12

Kindergarten - We enjoyed a couple of Halloween counting songs and a fall song this week.  We also danced outt some good rhythms!!

1st Grade - We've started previewing and rehearsing for the December show called "Candy Cane Lane".  I'm talking to the children about the different characters in the show and encouraging them to think about whether or not they want a speaking part.  More information on parts and auditions will be coming home within the next couple of weeks.

2nd Grade - We are continuing to work on reading rhythm patterns and we're working on a funny fall partner song.  We started looking through a scarecrow song that has us using many different voices and dynamic levels.

3rd Grade - I'm recording the children singing "The Song of Life" and we're practicing the dance steps to our own voices.  We also felt music in 3/4 time and talked about waltzing.

4th Grade - We had our first combined rehearsal this week.  The songs and dances are looking good!  Please encourage your child to practice and carefully memorize their words if they have a speaking part.

5th Grade - We took a quiz on vocal timbres this week.  Students needed to be able to identify various kinds of solo voices, as well as ensembles.  The next units will be on major and minor music, and vocal ranges.
