Week of January 7-11

Welcome back and Happy New Year!!!

Kindergarten - This week we sang through a wonderful Raffi book called "Baby Beluga".  We also started learning a song about "The Golden Rule".

1st Grade - Penguins and Presidents!  We are dancing and singing to a silly song called "The Penguin Polka".  We started learning a song that names all 44 presidents in order!  We are up to John Quincy Adams.  Additionally, we practiced playing quarter notes or "tah" on xylophones.

2nd Grade - We are working on our show called "Squirm!"

3rd Grade - Your child is now learning how to read notes on a staff.  We use our hand as a hand staff and practice naming the line notes and space notes by touching as well as reading them.  I introduced a fun game that is free on the internet called "Staff Wars".  Lastly, we've started learning a song called "Fifty Nifty United States".  It is a song by Ray Charles and names all 50 states in alphabetical order.

4th Grade - We are playing lots of fun patterns on the glockenspiels and xylophones and applying the notes and rhythms that we've practiced in earlier years.

5th Grade - 5th Grade Show rehearsals are underway!!!
