Week of April 29- May 3

Kindergarten - We practiced entering the stage, performing on the stage, and bowing!

1st Grade - We opened up 2nd grade music books this week!  We looked at music lines, high and low notes, rhythms, and solos.

2nd Grade - As we continue this unit on musical form, we are enjoying "The March of the Siamese Children" from "The King and I".  This piece is in Rondo form - ABACABA.

3rd Grade - We practiced drawing notes on a staff using my musical dry erase boards.  We also played a couple of games on the internet that help reinforce note naming.

4th Grade - We played a competitive game using instrument flash cards.  The students had to name the instrument and the family on each card.  We had a lot of fun with the New York Philharmonic Kid Zone web site.  There are fantastic games here!

5th Grade - We had our first rehearsal on the stage with all 4 classes.  It went very well, but it was really hot!  We started lunch recess rehearsals this week.  The boys will rehearse with me on Thursdays for 15 minutes and the girls have the next 3 Fridays, plus 1 Wednesday.  I handed out schedules to everyone.
