Week of September 14 - 18

Kindergarten - This week the children really made progress with echoing rhythms.  They are now playing the large tubano drums!  We are also singing and dancing a lot!

2nd Grade - In addition to drumming the rhythms of our birthdays, the children took a pre-test.  The test scores will help me be a better teacher to them because now I have information about what they currently know and don't know.

3rd Grade - The students are working hard at our competition song "All In!"  They have it memorized and we are continuing to add more dance moves.  We also spent some time at the drums improvising.

4th Grade - This week we read through the script for our show "Gotta Be Jazz".  They have many songs memorized, so next week we can begin dancing!

5th Grade - I have invited the students to join my Google Classroom.  I have a survey posted, which is due next Friday.  They can get the code to join my site from their homeroom teacher's Google Classroom.  We pack a lot into our 30 minutes of music time.  They are singing a 3 part round a cappella.  They are doing complicated rhythm rounds with me, and they are learning difficult drumming ensembles.  All of this takes intense, focused listening.  It also builds a sense of teamwork and respect because everyone contributes equally to the success of the ensemble.
