Kindergarten - The children are getting comfortable singing, dancing and echoing rhythms. I will be reading a book called "Screamy mimi" to them so that they can begin understanding what proper singing sounds like. We laugh a lot! I love teaching kindergarten music!
nd Grade - We spent a lot of time improvising this week. It's a lot of fun! We also practiced playing beats and rhythms. They can spell those words and demonstrate the difference!
rd Grade - We are now on our feet and dancing! As we prepare for our competition, we are focusing on the details of excellent singing and polished dancing. We are also using the classroom set of tubano drums and having fun improvising.
th Grade - These students are doing a great job at picking up the cool techniques of singing vocal jazz. We've also had interesting conversations that come out of the history behind this uniquely American style of music.
th Grade - The students are playing upper level ensembles on our tubanos. They are challenged to hear beyond themselves and combine their rhythm patterns with others who are playing different patterns. It's very rewarding when the music fits together!
