Kindergarten - We practiced singing God Bless America and learned a song about the American flag. Ask your PM kindergarten student how many stars and stripes our flag has!
1st Grade - After today I will be done hearing auditions for speaking parts. I will post the cast list here on my blog as well as on the door of my classroom. Thank you to all the moms who have contacted me about helping with costumes!
2nd Grade - Mrs. Likes' class and Miss Kathan's class enjoyed a surprise visit yesterday! Please check out my post just prior to this one. We sang a Veteran's Day song, practiced "My Country 'tis of Thee", and learned the real meaning of being a Yankee Doodle.
3rd Grade - This week we learned that we made it into the video competition! This was a nation-wide contest and I am so proud of these children! We spent our time in music learning the official songs for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
4th Grade - Your 4th grader learned about the history behind our country's National Anthem. They each took a quiz on the lyrics and I offered extra credit for answering questions about the facts behind the original poem. We are also starting to prepare some Native American music.
5th Grade - We focused this entire week on the "Star Spangled Banner". Your 5th grader should know the lyrics and melody to the 1st verse, as well as a lot of the history regarding the War of 1812 and the experiences of Francis Scott Key.
Don't forget to say THANK YOU to a Veteran this Sunday!
